ABOUT DOUG

In 1984, Doug entered into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, the One Who is his very reason for living. Not long after that, he began to feel God’s call to full-time ministry.

In August of 1993,Doug entered into his calling as a full-time evangelist. Since then, he has traveled throughout Virginia and beyond, ministering in both word and song. Doug has also traveled abroad in short term missions, ministering in Romania, Brazil & Ghana, West Africa.

Born in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, Doug Gochenour came into this world as an apparently normal and healthy child. Within several months after his birth, it was discovered that Doug had been born without a left hip socket.

Through the faith of a praying mother and grandmother, Doug received his first noted miracle at only a few months of age. After having been prayed for, the doctors reported that a hip socket was forming. God’s hand was already being revealed.

Doctors also determined that Doug had been born with cerebral palsy due to complications during the birthing process. Physicians stated that Doug would probably never walk. His mother responded by simply saying, “I’m sorry to disagree with you, but I serve a God who can make him walk”! When Doug was nearing the age of five, he took his first steps as his grandmother had him to repeat the words, “I’ll walk in Jesus’ name!”.

Doug received his education at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA where he received a Bachelor’s of Science in Communication Arts. In May, 1993, he graduated from Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia with a Master of Divinity degree.

A friend and colleague who is also an evangelist created a video about Doug in 2002. Click on the YouTube button to view the video:
